Our whole-wheat carrot and almond cake baked as a full round cake rather than a loaf. Warmly spiced, thick with grated carrot, finished with a cream cheese drizzle and toasted almond flakes. Deliberately not iced or decorated, which is the point of it, and the reason it suits a quiet birthday at home. Add a message topper if you would like one.
